Description
Noxious chemicals are often hidden in innocuous looking spray air fresheners, which claim to be made from ‘natural’ ingredients and make rooms smell of fresh air; Coastal Breeze, Fresh Linen, Fragrant Meadow…. Nothing beats fresh air, but for those of us not lucky enough to live next to a meadow or an ocean, the second best thing is a room infused with natural beautiful scents.
These traditional incense sticks are individually hand-rolled by a large scale manufacturer which was founded in 1964. They employ approximately seven hundred people, all of whom work in the factory and their employees receive benefits as well as salaries. They also organise entertainments around festivals like Diwali.
Incense rolled by hand is much superior to machine-rolled sticks in that the naturally preserved fragrance lasts considerably longer. The right quantity of ingredients ensures that they burn correctly and the hand-rolling process keeps the energies of the ingredients intact (similar to steamed vegetables rather than boiled), so the energies are also released on burning.
